Collecting advance tickets - credit card not required

I collected some advance Avanti tickets at Euston yesterday, and was surprised that after entering the Collection Reference code it gave me the tickets without requiring the credit card I used to purchase them to be swiped.

If this something new, or just an error?

It applies to most (or all?) Scheidt & Bachmann machines. I can confirm that most Greater Anglia ones don't require your card anymore.

Cammax machines also do this to be followed by Flowbird soon and then Worldline, all paid for by those generous people at RDG

Have changes been made to self-service machines recently?

I have just collected tickets that I paid for online. There were changes from the last time, around four months ago. I did not have to tap the debit card that I used. I received the out and return tickets, but no ticket which is an acknowledgement. I have, even though there are no reservations...

I'd previously collected tickets at STP earlier this year, and still needed to swipe my card. Those are older machines.

I'd previously collected tickets at STP earlier this year, and still needed to swipe my card. Those are older machines.

Older they may be but they are from the same supplier so should act in the same way now.
