Commercial guard assessment invite swt

Just received an email from swt regarding an assessment day in southampton , thing is i applied a whole year ago for a guards position and heard nothing back , is this normal for things to appear out of the blue like this? , naturally i'm chuffed to get this opportunity.

Hmmm interesting, all I can say is that I passed the assessment on 13th December and haven't heard anything since (4months) although a year seems a bit extreme. All I can say for your assessment day is practice the material they send you and keep practicing, of the 20 that arrived in the morning only 3 of us made it to the end, it is quite hard and a variety of different tasks.
