All these propper names makes my suggestion seem silly, "Bedford Benny"
This might result in the "West Country" effect - or perhaps, better put, the "Reverse West Country" effect.
Not sure of your age or knowledge of steam traction - there was a class of passenger locos on the Southern named after West Country locations. It is said people got on the wrong trains at times "because it said on the locomotive the train was going to Salisbury*".
* Insert any name from about 55 locations.
In the case of the Marston Vale, it might leave people at Bedford "because the train was only going to Kempston Hardwick."
How about naming the three of them "old", "dirty" and "late"Naming a train that's already been in service for almost 40 years seems like a strange competition. Let's hope it's a reliable unit. A lot of us remember George Osborne unveiling a 'Northern Powerhouse' name for an ex-Thameslink train that frequently broke down.
How does one start an engine without an auxiliary supply? How about "Doesn't need batteries".
I’d imagine those stations would be closed before any such naming takes effectThis might result in the "West Country" effect - or perhaps, better put, the "Reverse West Country" effect.

To be honest, I think naming anything other than "proper locomotives" is a bit weird and weak, but I suppose there aren't enough of those these days.I’d imagine those stations would be closed before any such naming takes effect
And then when that unit fails, can we all be "FED UP WITH BRICK!"?Father Jack from “Father Ted” for his services to bricks… “I love my brick” … and the historic links with bricks at Stewartby,
Maybe a spy or code theme?Without a doubt Alan Turing, ideally with a Pride livery. Shall get it submitted.
Definitely Bletchley's most famous son. And someone I have more than a little bit in common with (though I'm nowhere near as clever as him!)
They should name all three, one for Turing, one for a famous Bedfordian (John Bunyan maybe?) but who for the third one, is there a famous connection to anywhere along the way?
Maybe a spy or code theme?
"Bletchley Park - The Codebreakers"?
This is why we need a like button!Break the code and work out the time restrictions for tickets to London Euston.
Paint them different colours then you can have the Enigma Variations! (I`ll get my coat........)Paint it green and call it Daisy.
Virgin did it since at least the early 2000s on the 390s and voyagers. Is there a good chance that the 3 LNR 150s could be the last 1980s built trains to be in regular service.
When did naming multiple units becoming a thing? None of the first generation EMUs or DMUs were named.
There were a lot more locos around on passenger services in those days which were named though plus it was a single public company. Is there a good chance that the 3 LNR 150s could be the last 1980s built trains to be in regular service.

It's possible, but there's plenty of competition and if they are it'll be well in the future. There are a number of 15x fleets with no replacements in prospect yet. The future of the MV fleet is dependent on how quickly the next phase of East West Rail progresses. Is there a good chance that the 3 LNR 150s could be the last 1980s built trains to be in regular service.
yes they were! as below the ones that lived on the Marston Vale had names at various points. I believe the 2 car units were also named before them ( class 117?)None of the first generation EMUs or DMUs were named.
121027 - Bletchley TMDSome of NSE's 121s were named?
Class 115 51899 was named Aylesbury College too.yes they were! as below the ones that lived on the Marston Vale had names at various points. I believe the 2 car units were also named before them ( class 117?)
121027 - Bletchley TMD
121029 - Marston Vale
121031 - Leslie Crabbe
If they want something related to Bletchley Park, 'Colossus' would be a good choice ('The Bombe', probably less so).I suspect a combination of Bletchley park/Alan Turing/Station X / Enigma will be chosen
Some might say that 230001 could be a worthy candidate for that nameIf they want something related to Bletchley Park, 'Colossus' would be a good choice ('The Bombe', probably less so).
