Afternoon all,

Can any advise with this:

I am missing a few cl.67s for sight (and photos of) and some are based at Crewe (CE). Where is the best place to get decent photos of these locos (listed below) and best way to get to them.
67004, 67009, 67011, 67030

Also looking to get some decent photos of the stored/withdrawn cl.90s there too.
90017, 90020, 90021, 90022, 90023, 90024, 90025, 90026, 90027, 90031, 90032, 90033, 90038, 90041, 90050.

I believe a lot of the 90s (and 92s) and 67s are at Crewe IEMD and getting sight of them is not at all easy. Others will know more detail I'm sure.

90050 is in Basford Hall (the Freightliner yard). 020, 024 and 026 are still in service IIRC, mainly on the Daventry-Mossend container flows and/or the VTEC hire-ins. 90041, meanwhile, is in Leeds Midland Road, awaiting repairs.

There is a small gap in the fence which you have to duck through to get a decent shot of 025 up close and personal; 60055 is there as well.

I'm guessing the 90050 isn't an easy photo op then same with 90041.

Thinking maybe April/May if I can get a day off work.

Is it an easy trip from the station as I'll use the trains to travel (why pay) and also my car is currently playing me up!

Looked on Trainspots but nothing for Crewe or Basford Hall :(

Thanks for the update. I have a 55-250mm lens so that's a bonus and for those closer a 17-70mm lens :)

Latest info indicates the following 67s are stored at Crewe IEMD (and hence will be difficult to see):

67009, 67011, 67017, 67025, 67026

67004 (on your "missing" list) has been moved to Toton

67030 (on your list) is currently operational I believe - it's been taking the new Scotrail Class 385s from the Hitachi factory up to Scotland - here's a YouTube video of it from a couple of weeks ago (assuming it's not been stored since!)

I'm concious @59CosG95 suggests 90020/26 are in use - and does appear to have some good gen - however a very recent stored loco list I've seen indicates they are still stored at Crewe and they also haven't been anywhere by the looks of it for several weeks, so I think they're also there but could be wrong.

(90034 a couple of weeks back and currently 90019 and 90039 have been doing the stand-in VTEC work.

And as far as I can see 90018/28/29 as well as 024 have been working the Mossend-Daventry containers in recent weeks.)

And finally of the 92s, not sure which you're missing but the following are currently stored at Crewe Electric:

92004/07/08/09/13/17/29/31/35/37/41

Not stored, but 92043 has been parked up in the sidings near Crewe station for a month if you're missing that one. Quite possibly won't still be there when you're planning to visit in a couple of months of course...!

67013 is still on the Edinburgh-Inverness Sleeper at the moment - so jump on that somehow and also magically get a ride on a Network Rail test train when TnT'd by the Colas 67s in a little while, and that will chalk 3 off... :-/

Nice video of 050, I suspect it's one by a staff member or is it able to be seen by Joe Public ?

I've been away from "spotting" and "Bashing" for a number of years and returned around 2011 hence need to photo so many. The only reason I saw most of them is when I was at work (alongside the ECML).

I THINK you have to be on Freightliner property to see it, but may be wrong. Sure someone will know for definite.

Crewe IEMD isn't very accessible at all. 59CosG59 has identified a couple of spots you can catch a glimpse of odd locos, but on the whole they're tucked away and/or surrounded by commercial properties who aren't spotter friendly.

60028, 60038 and 60082 were behind 60055 in April last year at least. Presumably most haven't moved - although it appears 082 was out and about between Redcar and Scunthorpe a week or so ago. It was Stored at end of Jan, so if this info is correct, it would suggest it's only recently been put back into service.

67030 is At Doncaster Station on hire to VTEC.

Currently at Crewe Electric (IEMD) - been there for a couple of weeks at least. Not sure of its status, though - wasn't on a Stored list I saw at at 31 Jan.
