Just seen on the news that Crosscountry is expanding it's fleet by 12 trains from June. I'm guessing these are ex Avanti 221s, but can anyone confirm?

XC Voyager Refurbishment
In Modern Railways January 2024. Beacon Rail have gone out to tender for XC Voyager refurbishment with 3 companies interested in the work (Alstom probably one of them). Also mentions Beacon Rail considering batteries for the voyagers but ruled out on cost. Not much other detail, but some good...

Cross Country overcrowding - shortage of rolling stock
Seems to happen at a lot of other operators though - SWR trains between the peaks for example are extremely quiet in my experience! And been on many a lightly loaded LNER service on a weekday late morning/early afternoon. When well managed this is a good thing, on operators with multiple trains...
