Is there any railway app that lets you just reserve a seat on X Country or indeed on any other TOC?

Hope I'm not missing something here, but how would you stop such an app / weblink being misused by someone, with an appropriate ticket, booking a seat reservation for their desired train AND additional seat reservations for other (later/earlier) trains on a "just in case they're needed" basis?

Sometimes you just have to trust people not to act the prat.

Or you limit the number they can do on each day per account, I think LNER does that (two I think?)

LNER but only on their services, but with seat selection. It's something I'd like to see much more widely - it could for instance contribute significantly to reducing the Euston scrum.
