Cross Country Turnaround, 1S31/1O82, Sheffield 14/11

Bit of and odd one this morning, I was into Sheffield off the Hull-Sheffield service around 7:10 and was heading to Chesterfield, which having missed the delayed Nottingham train from platform 6 is the Cross Country to Southampton - also from Platform 6.

Got onto platform 6 just as it was being announced that it would be on platform 5 today, then got to platform 5 as it was changed to Platform 2, currently occupied by the Glasgow Cross Country service.

The Southampton train arrived on platform 5 and it was announced that both trains would be swapped round; the 5-car 1S31 0600 Birmingham New Street to Glasgow Central would now be reversing and going to Southampton and the 4-car 1O82 0616 Leeds to Southampton Central service would be reversing and doing the Glasgow service.

Quite a bit of a muddle as the side of the now-Southampton Central train didn't show a destination, then showed Southampton Central as the destination with Wakefield Westgate the first stop (it did change to Chesterfield after a minute or so).

Used to be a regular on the 1O82 but prefer to get a slightly earlier train these days, but have never had this happen before.

Set swap. Very common happens loads of times a day on the network.

Thanks, hadn't had it happen before on that service, which is the main XC service I use. Hadn't noticed it happen elsewhere, can only think of once when a TPE service was reversed at SHF due to a failure in the Hope Valley, so thought it was a bit unusual as it ended up with both services leaving later than planned

221129 on 1S31 had a sanding fault which required it to go back to Central Rivers. Was swapped onto 1O82 at Sheffield and then was swapped again with the spare at New St
