Hi All,

I see XC are looking for Qualified Drivers for Leeds and Edinburgh respectively. States its a expression of interest, not come across this type of application before. I guess effectively its a Talent Pool?

Does anyone know what's the commuting time is for XC - 1 hour or 45 mins

Cheers

We are looking for current Qualified Train Drivers to register an expression of interest for any future Driving positions at Leeds/Edinburgh which may arise with CrossCountry during 2024/5.

Here at CrossCountry we bring more of Britain together than any other train operator. Covering around 1,400 miles and calling at over 100 stations from Aberdeen to Penzance, it is the most extensive rail network in the UK. Joining CrossCountry will provide you with the opportunity to drive through some of the UK’s most iconic and picturesque countryside while becoming part of a supportive team, function and company.

Becoming a Driver with CrossCountry not only bring you security, safety and strength in a known operator, you will receive excellent benefits and a competitive starting salary of:

£54,977pa for experienced drivers without core routes and traction
£59,990pa with core routes and traction
£65,006 after 1 years’ service

Our train drivers are at the heart of our operation! Our Train Drivers don’t just drive our trains, they are the technical and operations specialists within our teams that deliver the highest standards of on-train service expected by our customers.

Priding ourselves on safety and customer service we are looking for individuals with an excellent safety record, solid train driving experience, a passion for rain industry and delivering a on-time service for our passengers.

Here at CrossCountry, we work a variety of different shifts so flexibility is required and lodging may be needed for Training purposes. There is no restriction on eligibility for applications except that drivers may not apply until they have occupied their present post for 3 years following completion of training, including examination and route learning.

This is a safety critical post so you will also be required to undertake a full medical examination and substance abuse screening.

It looks as if there's no distance restriction according to the advert. Seems they may have changed their criteria now that they want 3yrs qualified...

That was my other query, the 3 years is as a qualified driver, not if you've moved TOCs/FOCs within 3 years?

I can only imagine that it's 3 years since fully qualified. Asking for someone to have not changed employers within the last 3 years would seem very unusual to me. Though I have been known to be wrong before!
