Well this thread is about XC not other TOCs , other industries are irrelevant to this thread.
XC is my 4th TOC/ FOC and haven't had these incremental increases in leave/ sick leave, so to point this out for prospective Driver's IMO is important.
Regarding movement from spare, long movements most certainly do happen( abeit not everyday), only a month or so ago I picked up one of the jobs just after 4am from 1330 spare, many of my colleagues have had similar, particularly on a Monday after a RD weekend.

I'd argue it is relevant, as you're making out it's something sneaky that only XC, when it's not

I never said sneaky, just something to be aware of.
I was unaware of it when I joined the company, the only place it's available to read is in conditions of service document, which you don't get access to until you're an employee.

If you knew what you did now, would you not have made the move.ans regret joining? Are you looking to jump ship and if so which companies interest you?

Well that’s my hat in the ring.

Something I would really want, but if im being honest im not very optimistic.

Im guessing there would be 100s off applicants for just a few posts.

I can whole confidently say you stand a much better chance of getting it by applying than that if you didn't! Good luck.

How strict are cross country at taking qualified drivers with incidents on their record? Is it a complete no even for a single incident such as a fail to call or do they assess each candidate individually , aka potentially give them a chance?

Case by case. We had people go there with less than perfect records

In regards to that, have they a certain time period...i understand the case by case approach. I'm lead to believe LNER prefer 5 years. Do XC adopt a similier approach again depending in the incident.

I wonder if they get a lot of applicants from the likes of Northern or TPE if they would recruit for qualified drivers

I was told by a qualified XC driver at Leeds that the vacancy had been withdrawn. XC have the required number of drivers at the depot. I believe this is the same for Edinburgh as both were taken down early.

The local manager reports a driver is leaving and we need to replace him. HR automatically advertise the job role. Senior Management do a review of staffing throughout the company and notice there is a job advert for two positions. Management decide that replacement drivers are not needed and the post with the adverts is closed.
