I think my point was that it is unwise to put out service patterns, journey times etc as fact when it is only opinion and assumption. Such issues will be worked on by professionals over the years to come.
Of course the professionals will work on the fine details as time progresses, and if NR has to serve Earlsfield, I'm sure a plan suitable will be made. But we're still a whole stage before that at the moment.
Right now, we are in the critical stage of selecting the single preferred option. Those really key decisions will be taken in the next 3 to 12 months (to meet the published timescales). After that, it will be fine detail on the single selected option. Those decisions will clearly have consequences for some locations and yet people in those locations don't even know there is an issue! For example, Earlsfield had no events in the latest consultation and the likely service reduction was not in any of the published consultation documents.
For those unaware, TfL is responsible for planning north of Wimbledon, while NR is responsible for planning south. And at the consultation it was made clear that Network Rail's planning is a long way behind that of TfL (there was very very little detail from NR in the recent consultation). The problem is that in SW London the issues from Earlsfield through Wimbledon to Raynes Park are all interlinked. Because that section is split between the two organizations, many of us in Merton feel we are getting a very raw deal from Crossrail 2 planning.
