Hi
I'm looking to go
from Dalston Kingsland (or Junction) to Margate on morning of Fri 5th (or possibly afternoon of Thurs 4th)
and then on the evening of Fri 5th from Margate to Maidstone
and then on morning of 6th from Maidstone back to Dalston.

If I get an Open Return on South Eastern I can see that I can break both my outward and return journeys, including overnight breaks as long as resume travel by 12 the next day.

But what I can't seem to find out is whether a return Dalston-Margate is valid to return via Maidstone. Does anyone know?

I haven't had a chance to look at this properly but I think that buying a Dalston (DLK/DLJ) - Ramsgate ticket (same price as to Margate) gets you validity via Maidstone. There may be cheaper ways of doing it.

Using NRE as my test bed, I could get the Offpeak return to Ramsgate from London Bridge via Blackfriars and Maidstone East, but not from Blackfriars! I haven't checked Dalston specifically.
I would be wary of using Maidstone West, though mapped routes, which I have not checked, might allow it.

Finally got to the routing guide : map DE shows London- Maidstone E-Canterbury W - Ramsgate/Margate. Which is what I would have expected.
