I just got a letter from network rail saying they would be re-edging the platforms at davenport soon.

They say this is to "accomodate additional electric trains" but the station has had electric services in the past? Anyone know what the real reason is?

The EMUs which have operated in the past will have been either slam door sets (Class 304/305) or more recently 3-coach Class 323s. The work will be enable to allow 4-coach Class 319 units, which have just come into service with Northern having been transferred north from Thameslink, to operate on services to and from Hazel Grove.
