Just got into this hobby, and was wondering where would be the best place to Go to get some nice photo's of loco's on a Saturday, went to the Licky Incline the other day, very enjoyable, and some nice photo's.Have thought about going to Crew,by train from Wolverhampton, but also thinking of going around the Burton A38 area for a spot of spotting with the camera,is Saturdays a good day for this type of hobby or is it a more weekday thing for action.
Looking forward to any help and pointers,I live in the Walsall area so can travel a bit by train or car.

Crewe is poor for photography, too many obstructions and most freight avoids the station. Nuneaton and Tamworth are much better although the latter can also be rather frustrating with no good place to photograph trains on both levels.

Freight on a Saturday is quieter wherever you are although the WCML has more than most places. Worth checking out the Freightmaster website for a list of regular running freights (and the usual locos) and RealTimeTrains for on the day changes and short notice runs.
