This weekend I need to make the following journeys:
Saturday morning: Wimbledon to Broxbourne
Saturday evening: Broxbourne to Hitchin
Sunday evening: Hitchin to Wimbledon
I have a Network Railcard.
Now bear with me, but I've thought about this and here is what I am currently thinking is the cheapest way of doing this:
- Buy a paper Day Travelcard between Zone 1 and Broxbourne for Saturday (£11.70 with Network Railcard)
- Buy a paper single ticket from Hadley Road to Hitchin for Saturday (£5.30 with Network Railcard)
- Buy a paper single ticket from Hitchin to Wimbledon for Sunday (£9.70 with Network Railcard)
- Use the Day Travelcard to enter the system at Wimbledon and exit the system at Broxbourne on Saturday morning
- Use the Day Travelcard to re-enter the system at Broxbourne on Saturday evening and travel to Tottenham Hale, then take LUL to Finsbury Park and travel from there to Hadley Road
- At Hadley Road, my paper single ticket to Hitchin allows me to continue my journey to Hitchin with a change at Welwyn Garden City
Questions:
- If I buy a paper Day Travelcard, can I use it from the beginning ie start my journey in Wimbledon? Or is it only valid for a day trip starting at Broxbourne?
- Can I use my Network Railcard to get a discount on said Travelcard?
- Will the Day Travelcard be retained by the barrier when I get off at Broxbourne on Saturday morning?
- If the paper Day Travelcard option isn't going to work and I have to rely on a contactless cap to take me from Wimbledon-Broxbourne-Tottenham Hale-Finsbury Park-Hadley Road, does this mean I end up paying more because I can't apply my Railcard?
Thank you in advance.
