A while back, I read in a magazine that DB were considering renewing some of their Intercity Coaching Stock. Due to the fact that the locos hauling it were fairly new, they were looking into getting hauled stock rather than units.

Does anyone know whether or not they ended up going down the unit route?

Cheers

Jon

I have heard that the ICs will be replaced by ICE-Ts and that the existing services which use ICE-Ts will be replaced with ICE-3s. DB have an order for 67 ICE-3s outstanding.

This will be a right bugger if true, because it is not possible to take full size bikes on ICEs

What will actually happen to the coaching stock then. It doesn't look particularly outdated. Nor do the locos which pull it by the looks of this video.

(Ding!) It's happened before, right at home on the WCML. The Class 90's and Mk3 stock weren't particularly outdated, and now look at the WCML! The entire route is dominated by Pendolinos and Voyagers on express services! (Apart from the new refurbished set of course)
