German Railways (DB) are establishing seat reservations in regional trains (i.e. RB and RE) in more regions of Germany, formerly these were only available in long-distance trains (IC, EC, ICE).

Regions with permanent seat reservations for commuters. This is free in Lower Saxony, Bremen, on the SÜWEX and in Schleswig-Holstein for holders of SH-Tarif passes, or cost 40€ a month elsewhere.

Permanent seat reservations sounds very interesting, do you have any more information on this?

"Marston Vale mafia"
with overcrowded rush hour trains, this could be a source of conflict.

This was one of the key reasons LM and SWT abandoned reservations completely, I believe.

I suspect the reason for this though is that some "regional trains" on DB nowadays are only regional trains for reasons of funding, and are really comparable with something like TPE.

Edit: interesting that these are "maybe reserved" marked seats and will not be placed...
