Unfortunately the DFR are unable to bring 31101 to the gala. A full lineup and timetable will be available soon.

When is 31466 due to return?

Sorry, no idea I'm afraid. It's still committed at the ELR with 73001.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Here's a version that might be easier to read...

To anticipate queries about connecting trains - the times for Lydney (Network Rail) are NOT shown.
So what do Gloucester & Newport mean...

For DFR trains arriving at Lydney Junction the times shown are the arrival at the destination from Lydney
For DFR trains departing Lydney Junction the times shown are the arrival at Lydney from the destination.

Example: The 08:00 from Newport arrives at Lydney at 09:56, this is also the 09:56 from Lydney and arrives at Gloucester at 10:19.

Hope this helps?

Food Update:

In addition to the locally made Pasties (or Foggies to give them their Forest name) and Wild Boar sausage rolls etc, our Catering Manager has decided to offer the following curries at the gala, Chicken Jalfrezi and a medium Vegetable curry - both with rice. All available from the café at Norchard Low Level.

Bon appetit......!

D9537 has left the East Lancs destined for Lydney. A significant event in that this is the first time it has been away "on tour".

Also, if anyone is interested, some friends are bringing their heritage bus to the gala and would be happy to pick anyone up from Newport Railway station if desired? Bus will be outside both Sat and Sun around 0900/0915. Please let me know and I'll put you in touch.

Thanks

Only a few days to go and the DFR is a flurry of activity in the days leading up to the gala. D9521 went out on a proving run on Sunday with D9537. A large Wild Boar was sighted during last week, sufficiently large to halt the steam service! Thursday will see the locos prepped and checked over. A delivery of ballast is also anticipated for some time this week to load into 6 Dogfish to use on the works at Whitecroft (or at least make a start), to make the freight look a bit more realistic and add a little weight to the consist.....(!) The bucket collection for the rideable freight will contribute towards further ballast purchases.

To remind you of the café/bar situation,

Friday - Cafe opening normal hours - normal fayre

Sat - Cafe opening 8.30 til 9pm (last food orders 8pm) - curry offering (veg & chicken jalfrezi)

Sun - Cafe opening 8.30 until 5pm

The bar will open around 1200 and close when appropriate so but at 5pm on Sunday. The DMU buffets are intended to be open as will the buffet car on the hauled stock. Tea and coffee are also available in the booking office at Parkend.

Can I please also remind you of the online ticketing which does reflect a saving over the "walk up" ticket price.

Thanks again,

Nick
