So according to the NRE twitter account, there has been some defective track found between Exeter St Davids and Barnstaple which means a speed restriction has been put in place for almost the next week, thus delaying trains by upto 45 mins. Either that is one substantial speed restriction or it just messes with the timetable on the single track a fair bit (I assume it is on the actual branch as it doesn't look like the mainline is affected). Also can't help realise that there was apparently track replacement work going on last week in the area, surely it can't be linked to that already? Anyone got any more details?

A 20 mph speed restriction was placed over a 30+ mile section of the branch line due to the track not being ‘stressed’ following recent renewal. The latest information is that the issue will be ongoing for over a week.

Between Portsmouth Arms and Umberleigh, 4.5m, not the whole branch mercifully. 5mins each way, but presumably that will build up over a full day as the turnrounds are tight?

The original typo of 30 miles came from NR themselves (203mi - 237mi) even though the branch ends around 210mi.

Unless NR can get it stressed PDQ, with the forecast heatwave next week, the EROS will be extended for yet another week.
