Midttrafik, the transport company for the Middle Jutland region, reports that the new light rail system, Letbane, did not open as planned on Saturday, 23 September 2017. The Danish Transport, Constructing and Housing Authority (Trafik-, Bygge- og Boligstyrelsen) rejected an assessment that the Letbanen company would be capable of maintaining the system. Also, they say that Keolis, the operator, does not meet some safety requirements.

A new date for the opening has not been confirmed.

A pedant asks: does the Hornbækbanen not count as light rail?

From Wikipedia: The opening, scheduled for 23 September 2017, was cancelled only a few hours before the event due to missing security clearances from the Danish government. The opening date was thereafter pushed back to October, with the admission that more delays were possible.
