I know Holborn Viaduct was the terminus for some Central division suburbans before Thameslink, were 455s allocated on these routes or where they ran be 4-EPBs?
Never heard of it happening , I am sure it was onlky 319's from the start. Cant even recall hearing of any loco's for engineeringDid a 2/4 E P B type unit ever make it to Farringdon in the early days of the T/link scheme?
A photo on Flickr from December '85 says they did. Do inspect the destination blind: https://www.flickr.com/photos/60539035@N02/50023404022

I've found a rather poor quality undated B/W photo on Flickr of one at Holborn Viaduct: https://www.flickr.com/photos/111015206@N08/49723774883/

The photo is taken from 'Holborn Viaduct to Lewisham' by Middleton Press. Quite a few good photos from that timeInteresting, thanks. I wonder how many more there are out there
I'm pretty sure a class 73 made it to Farringdon before the start of public services through the tunnel. I think there was a report in the Railway Magazine. Also here's a picture of one in 2008, the accompanying text says that Rail magazine said it was 'unprecedented' but I'm not so sure.Never heard of it happening , I am sure it was onlky 319's from the start. The other platforms were well used for parcels and newspaper traffic until the 70s when that was transferred away.At its prime Holborn Viaduct had 6 platforms however through time this was gradually reduced to 2 when the station closed.

It was unprecedented at the time because up until then Class 73s had not been seen on the Thameslink central core section. Its why I used that quote from RAIL.I'm pretty sure a class 73 made it to Farringdon before the start of public services through the tunnel. I think there was a report in the Railway Magazine.
