The two-track section between Digswell and Woolmer Green junctions has been an issue for years. It's quite easy to say that it's the busiest twin-track section in the country. Owing to the fact the coronavirus pandemic cut down services at quite significant levels, it's not as much of a huge problem as it was before, though that doesn't mean they should leave it. In reality, it's something that would cost billions and very expensive options to solve. Other projects are being delivered by Network Rail as part of the East Coast Upgrade currently. The dive-under at Werrington is coming on very well. Due to the high expenses and complexities of solving Welwyn North, I doubt it will be any time soon that we will see Network Rail with spades in the ground and preparing to deliver any upgrades.
