The NRE journey planner is showing XC trains to Bournemouth next Saturday taking longer than usual and omitting Winchester etc., and RTT confirms diversion via Laverstock; the XC website shows this as a late notice alteration. SWR services are still shown by NRE as running normally, and there's nothing in NRE's list of planned engineering works. SWR's site mentions work in the Southampton area on the Sunday (looking at what is and isn't running, it appears that it really is at Southampton, not repairing the damage from the Eastleigh derailment), but says nothing about Saturday.
Does anyone know what's going on? I'm guessing that because of the short notice not all information sources have been updated yet, but if XC can do it you would have thought that SWR and NRE could have too. Are Saturday's changes to do with the permanent repairs at Eastleigh? And is it likely that anything similar will happen the following weekend?
(Normally I wouldn't mind an extra half hour on the journey -- especially with a short piece of rare track and a much longer piece that's rare-for-me -- but I did the diversion the other week and this time I was planning to go to the Isle of Wight, on which journey it would only take a slight further delay to make me miss the hourly ferry from Lymington).
