    Hello all,
As many of you may have heard today* (potentially through Sam's Trains on YouTube), the model railway company DJ Models has gone "voluntarily" into liquidation.
DJ Models is known for their perhaps not perfect quality models (the J94 springs to mind as one which was not well-recieved). However, as Sam's Trains says in his most recent video (as at the time of writing this), Dave Jones has spent a lot of time and money on this model railway company and for it to go away is a major thing for all involved.
It is currently unknown as to what will happen concerning money which has been given to the company in the form of pre-orders which will now almost certainly not be made. The below is from https://www.world-of-railways.co.uk/brm/reviews/dj-models/news-dj-models-goes-into-receivership:
www.world-of-railways.co.uk also said the following concerning the financial aspect of things. This refers to those who have crowdfunded:

*The news was published by Sam's Trains on the 12th of June 2019, but the World of Railways website listed above gave information on this topic on the 5th of June 2019 (last Wednesday).

This is sad news isn’t it? They’d done a good job of filling some of the gaps in that possibly wouldn’t have been produced otherwise.
Is that part of the problem though? As in none of the models would have ever sold in viable numbers?
I’ve never owned one so I can’t vouch for the quality.

It is definitely sad news. They did fill some gaps in the market, but as you say, this was probably part of the problem.
I've also never owned a DJ model but I have heard plenty about them!

Reads a bit like an advert for "Sams Trains".

It's not meant to be that way. Just like his videos.
If it was an advert, I would have put a link to all of his things like YouTube and Instagram.

Can't help thinking if they had used a normally designed chassis there would not be the glut of J94s sat on retailers shelves - the all axle gear drive with loosely fitted connecting rods made for models which to my eye had a strange motion from the connecting rods along the track. Also they made the chassis a pretty sealed unit which defies ongoing maintenance. Think they may have realised the error of their ways as a forthcoming 0-6-0 was to have a normally designed chassis.

Although saying that, my 14xx is okay.
I know a lot of peope sent theirs back due to bad running but mine is pretty good.
I just hope it stays that way!

I do have an O2 but it always appears to have non entirely horizontal connecting rods which gives it a strange crab like appearance visually if not in running qualities. The 14xx is not entirely accurate (wheels are too big for a start) so I would not surprised if another manufacturer in the near future releases a new model of it.

A couple of examples out of many cases where DJ Models stock was not very good. If I bought a model that turned out to be rubbish, back to the shop it would go!
