Breaking news... about to translate the press release.
According to kollektivtraffik.dk (here, in Danish, easily translated by Google Chrome) the Swedish train company Snälltåget has been permitted to operate two daily day trains between Malmö and Hamburg from 2025, and will be permitted to sell tickets within Denmark, something it is not currently allowed to. Snälltåget will also be permitted to start operating 3 daily domestic Danish trains between Copenhagen and Aarhus from 2027.
This is huge news in Denmark, since it means the breaking of the DSB monopoly on passenger trains on two of its most important routes.
Snälltåget commercial manager Marco Andersson is quoted as saying "the earliest we will be running traffic is June 2025."
This is not the first time a foreign operator has tried to break into the Danish railway market: SJ briefly extended some Stockholm - Copenhagen X2000 trains to Odense but struggled to break into a market where most passengers bought tickets from DSB machines that excluded SJ trains.
