Hi,

I've just been invited for an assessment for a job as a PSA with the Docklands Light railway.

Does anybody know what the assessment entails or know of a site I may find more information or perhaps someone I could contact privately?

I really want to get this job so am trying to make us much preparation as possible.

Any suggestions about the assessment or anything else I should look into would be really helpful.

Thanks

Hi

I've been invited to that assessment day also! This is the second assessment day I have been invited to, the last one, in November, i narrowly failed to get the job.

Last time it consisted of 2 aptitude tests [maths and reading] which were really easy [well I passed them anyway!], a radio test, which was just repeating stuff through a 2-way radio basically, which I also passed, then a face to face interview. If you don't pass a test, you'll be sent home straight away and won't be able to take the next test.

Good luck, and hopefully we'll both get the job!

Thanks Boombox,

That was the sort of thing I was expecting. So what form do the maths and reading test take? Is the reading test just answering questions from a few paragraphs of text?

Also the maths test - just simple arithmetic? Any further help would be great.

Is the interview just based on the competencies from the application form? Anything I should look into or have in mind?

Good luck to you when you get re-assessed.

In the reading test, they give you a paragraph of text about something completely random, and they give you multiple choice questions, 1 of the answers being correct about the paragraph, and the other 3 being wrong. and yes, the maths is just basic arithmetic which starts really easy and gets harder the further you get into it. As for the interview they asked me a variety of questions about situations I might find myself in if I was successful [stuff like what would I do if I found an unattended suitcase, or if someone had left their baby on board my train etc.], they asked about my knowledge of London Transport [London Underground etc.] and also asked me stuff about me as a person, like what kind of things I'd done in the past, just basic stuff.

I was in a group of about 60 at the start of the day, and only about 10-15 [including me] made it all the way through to the interview at the end, so as much as it sounds easy, a lot of people do seem to fail, so be warned!
