Hi,
I have a DMI interview coming up for a trainee train driver role at Southeastern.
I’ve looked in the forums and can’t really find any advice other than revising “standard interview questions” and “learning about the company and the routes”.
Does anyone have any more specific advice and/or examples of interview questions? Help!

Congratulations, however, people are not going to post specific questions here. It's not fair to do so and there is an unwritten rule. Be aware that management browse these forums too.

Take a look at the job spec skills and try to work out how they will ask you to prove you've demonstrated them. It's easy really if you put a little effort in.

The recruitment process is tough for a reason. The training is tough. If you coast through recruitment by asking to be spoon fed every aspect of the process you may well fail the course.

Tough love but sorry, it's a tough job. Have some faith in the fact that you've got this far and continue to put the effort in yourself. Then, if you're successful you can be reassured you're actually able to do the training and then, the job itself. Best of luck

Gillingham for me! How’s your prep going?
I don’t feel like I’m getting anywhere but probably know more than I think I do! Think I’m good with the TPWS so just needing to learn a few bits about the company between now and next week. Im hoping the questions will be general interview questions such as why you applied for the role etc. yourself?

Yeah i know what you mean I feel very similar, i think I'm pretty confident with TPWS. From researching the forums and other people’s experiences, it seems like Southeasterns DMI’s are geared more towards motivations for the role and general interview questions, but I’m definitely still going to anticipate a few competency ones too!

Yeah I’m from 2021, applied in sep of 21 so been a very long journey but will hopefully be worth-it in the end.

I don’t actually remember when but it was quite a long time ago so potentially late 2021

Yes definitely best to be prepared for everything! I want it to just be over with but also really excited about it. I’ve wanted this for such a long time now

Yeah likewise, I’ve prepared and researched an insane amount, would be interesting to know how many people have made it to the DMI vs how many trainee drivers they’re planning on recruiting for each depot.
