Duty Authority to Travel card query

Hi all,

Trying to find confirmation on the below query as nobody seems to know the answer and the RSTL aren’t responding at all.

I live near Milton Keynes station and my driver academy is in York. Currently I’m driving to and using the ECML as it seemed the only option for free travel was with my TOC.

Could I use the DAT card to use other TOCs to get to York when travelling to/from the academy? Such as using Avanti from Milton Keynes to Euston and then walking to Kings Cross to use LNER up to York? Or using Avanti to Man Pic then TPE to York etc. This would save me around two hours driving and £50 in parking each week.

I had an email from them yesterday and it says you can use the card to get to a training academy , so it should be ok.

Yes, if you have a letter from your employer and they've issued you with a DATC you're ok to use it to travel to your training. You'll want to have the letter on you for the unlikely event that an RPI etc. asks what the reason/justification for your journey is.
