It's owned by a property company and parts are leased out..Knights Rail have a 5-year lease of part and there are other leased-out portions. There is at least one large advert on the building side that mentions that there is space to let...workshops, storage etc.

From what I know and have seen it serves a few purposes one is a storage area for EWS hence the 58's stored there also Knights Rail has a lease as mentioned on a few parts of the site and they carry out rolling stock refurbishments on stock such as Mk1/2/3's ect and have also recently aquired some slam door stock to rutrn to the mainline as an example of their skill which will gain publisity aswell as us gaining some more heritage slam-door stock on the mainline.

Other wise as mentioned it is let out as office space.

They also do some maintenence on locos there, what I believe is Eastleigh TMD. Some of the 37/4s have been sent there to be repaired because of other depots having too much work to take on the 37s, so I believe anyway.

Bingo!,yes they have a TMD as far as I know an they have been bringing a few old 37/4's back into use so altogether a pretty usefull place indeed.

I saw 458015 at Wallers Ash loop en route to Eastleigh? I take it? I was on my way back from Bournemouth after working a 444 then a 450.

Refurb or is it Ashford?

Eastleigh TMD (EWS) is alive and well, not just used as a dumping ground for the old wrecks of the fleet. Mods are underway on the ex-rover 'cube' wagons, reactivation work on a handful of 58s, 37401 undergoing a B exam and thats in addition to everyday servicing of loco's in the area. Work should increase at the depot once OOC is closed.
