I believe ship to shore discharge at weaste has been removed (but I cannot confirm)also there has been no ship up for weaste since sept 7th so maybe it's coming by rail again.
Perhaps Friday will see a Tunstead-Weaste working as Northfleet working run Friday only?

Tunstead-Weaste ran today(29/11/16)..departed late at 13.11..Weaste at 15.29.Return left at 16.26 heading back to Earles sidings at Hope...not sure if this was empties or just LE.??
Anyone know if this is similar flow to the Tunstead-Brindleheath trains..??Presumably for domestic market and not export..??

It was 66621 hauling 21 tanks. Some PCA tanks and some a type I haven't seen used on the Weaste spur previously. 66621 left light engine, and from the brief time it was at the cement terminal, there wasn't enough time to have emptied the tanks so possibly they were just moved there for storage?

Do the wagons need to be moved to be emptied or can HGVs work their way down the line, as they can at some locations?

This shows the set up..my(extremely limited)understanding is that the rail tanks are connected to the fixed pipe work on site allowing cement to be transferred into large storage shed from where road vehicles are loaded....??

Thanks. So it all hinges on whether a full train can be split and left on the aprons, thus releasing the loco to go away and return later.

Monday 12th December ...RTT shows light engine from Crewe to Weaste (arr 07.21/dep 08.30)...presumably to remove empty tanks which arrived 29/11 back to Tunstead.Hoping that they aren't now in some local scrap yard awaiting recycling??

According to RTT there was a freight showing originating Eccles at 10pm for Crewe but it was let out at 8pm 2hours early. Seemed well laiden. Would this have come from Weaste? What was it carrying and why would it show as starting from eccles not Weaste?

I saw a train the other day from Tunstead to Barry Island Colas Rail. It had 41 x 2 axle tanks trailing. Could they be going for scrap or, more hopefully, refurbishment by Colas in connection with the new Aberthaw traffic?

There must be an error here. There is nowhere to go at Barry Island as it is at the end of short stretch of a single line across the Causeway from Barry Town and 3 passenger trains per hour using the station. It must be a siding somewhere at Barry Town.

Could it be the heritage railway? I'm pretty sure Colas do also have some sidings at Barry station itself.

One of many over the next few days carrying used ballast and sleepers away from the Ordsall Lane Junction engineering work. Eccles is shown as the nominal starting/finishing point for these workings since it is the nearest measurable point to the possession limit.

when this site first opened in the 90s it was operated by blue circle and if memory serves me correctly cement trains ran from earles sdgs arriving mid afternoon and cement loaded into ship. freightliner 66s operated trains however one week produced a gbrf loco I think 66707.the site closed for some time and Lafarge reopened 00s and cement imported.
I do have photos of ship and train alongside at weaste
