Brilliant day isn’t it!

1. Points failure at Navarino Road Jn causing chaos on the NLL
2. Blockage on the DC lines in Hatch End area
3. Disruption between MKC and Northampton on the WCML
4. This.

Slow lines open both directions, 1E21 stranded on the Up fast with potential pantograph damage.
Services on the Up unable to call at Stevenage due to wires hanging down on up fast.
Oof that's going to be a big night shift to get that back for tomorrow morning. Was there a separate incident at Welwyn also earlier?

A person was reported to be wrong side of Broadwater bridge. A caution was in place while police searched for the person.

Here in the Fens it has been raining heavily all evening, and I suspect Stevenage is no different. It won't be pleasant for those on site.

I'm on the 19:33 from London. It's now 21:48 and we aren't even at PBO yet.

The guard has made frequent announcements but a shame they don't have enough people to enable at seat food ordering or hand out at least some water.

We seem to be averaging a maximum of about 15mph. Things are very congested and slow moving.

Level crossings have failed between Huntingdon and Peterborough.

Still? Christ.

However in the current weather I'd probably say the train is the safest place to be rather than a track or train to train evacuation

Dang 1E21 is still stuck around the Knebworth Area. Crazy

Just noticed it was the 1530 Departure from Edinburgh due 19:50 at Kings Cross. Driver and TM must be working overtime.

I‘m not far away and it has been biblical rain for a couple of hours. The very heaviest rain will shortly be right over Stansted.

Looking at when they passed Stevenage, they've been stuck 2 hours 20 minutes.
Stevenage [SVG] - due 1927 - actual pass 1939¼ - delay +12
Langley Jn - due 1927½ - actual pass 1939¾ - delay +12

Terrible weather with busts of monsoon like rail , one feels for those engaged in what will be a very difficult night to rescue some sort of service for the morning.

Thameslink Midland taking some passengers for Luton and travel across. Very impressed with the Midland passengers helping out with onward advice , especially with some passengers having flat phone batteries.

Yeh just had a look at the old signalmaps, some unlucky Edinburgh passengers are on a 6hr and 30min journey and counting already, train crew must be over hours by now.

It looks like 1N35 has sat down on the Down Fast just south of Digswell Jnc with Signal Maps showing at least 2 trains having been diverted around it via the Down Slow.

Edit: It's now back on the move 28 Late.

1N35 will do a side to side evacuation of 1E21, it will set back into Knebworth to drop the customers up, who will then be picked up by another service for onward movement to London.
N35 had to switch to diesel before it could move forward.

I assume this will be a logistical nightmare for getting some of these displaced units and trains back for tomorrow service and thats assuming the OHLE isn't damaged as some are claiming

Slow lines would be open and at that point in morning Hertford would be available to be used.

That would explain what I'm seeing on Open Train Times and Signal Maps. Thanks for the info

The stranded 801207 definitely won't be reaching Newcastle on time tonight (00:41)

Also just looking around and https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:Y54010/2023-09-20/detailed is saying there's a level crossing failure, I assume this is someone just putting the wrong code in (especially since the outbound has been cancelled due to the wires) or is a level crossing also being annoying?

Could 1N35 (801207) be stuck in it and that's why they're not just dragging it (or using their small diesel engines)?
As above N35 is performing an evacuation of customers, after that it goes forward to Newcastle

I saw a post earlier saying there was a Level Crossing Failure as well.
