Evening folks,

I've got a question reference what would be classed a reasonable route. I regularly travel between Cheltenham and Scotland, every 4 days normally between shifts at work.

I have a ticket from Edinburgh to Cheltenham that allows me to use any route. However, I've just looked and there are more trains and faster trains between Glasgow and Birmingham (where I connect with a Cross Country service).

Would it be reasonable for me to get a fast transfer between Edinburgh and Glasgow to complete my journey?

Many thanks in advance for your advice.

Martin

I don't see any reason why this wouldn't be allowed - generally speaking journeys to Edinburgh from the south are also valid via Glasgow.

A quick look at the routeing guide shows both routes mapped.

There are also direct services to Edinburgh via the WCM from Birmingham and you can also change at Carlisle if on a Glasgow service.

Both of these options may be faster than travelling via Glasgow.

Definitely would be faster to travel either direct from Birmingham to Edinburgh via the WCML, or to head north and change at somewhere like Wigan, Carlisle or Lancaster where the Transpennine Express services also run.

Train every 2hrs direct from Edinburgh to Birmingham down the WCML, I use it often myself. Takes just over 4hrs.

Trains at 0652, 0852, 1051, 1251, 1451, 1652 & 1852
