When the non-wired section from Leeds to York is completed, wouldnt it make sense to have some electric through trains from bradford fsq/ilkleyskipton to York? I know not many as the route east of Leeds is rather full, but it would free up some platform space and avoid changes for some people.

Not from those lines, most services go into the bays so they’d have to cross some tracks where perhaps not wanted/needed. If the New Pudsey and Brighouse lines were wired, I’d suggest HUD - BDI - LDS - YRK sorts of services perhaps, though I sort of feel like it’s better to keep them to their respective sides of the station.

From a passenger point of view, possibly - but with the present level of congestion E of Leeds I am not convinced it's practicable. Better than Bradford-Doncaster certainly, though.

One main idea, once upon a time, was a Hambleton routed London service, possibly faster than via Wakefield. If looped, that might be a through service, technically.

But nowhere has the wires to carry on much, XC and Calder are the main ones west, and diesel. It's Shipley routes or ECML to London. Until TPE comes online, which is the main purpose.

Sense would dictate one of two options bearing in mind it would require a complete timetable recast to achieve:-

Either the Huddersfield stopper carries on through to York or....
The Doncaster - Leeds service continues through to York.

The Leeds NW Triangle services are better left self contained.

You could always use 769's of course. These could run Blackpool to York, which would also be under the wires from Farringdon Jcn to Blackpool.

Electrification isn't stopping more services going through Leeds; it's the lack of capacity between Leeds and Micklefield.
