Electrical issue at Huntingdon - what is it and what's the prognosis?

Currently sitting on 1E20 in Grantham station due to unspecified electrical issues in Huntingdon area. I assume that it's highly likely I'll make it to London on this service at some point tonight and I don't need to be looking into other arrangements? I'm not bothered about the delay (actually it perversely suits me - gets me out of having to spend too long at a work party and get delay repay) so long as the train very likely will arrive. If not then I assume best bet would be to head via Nottingham?

Don’t know anything about the issue myself, but LNER have posted damage to overhead wires
https://x.com/lner/status/1895545259142369515?s=46 (link to thread)

⚠️#LNERUpdate Due to damage to the overhead electric wires between #Peterborough and #LondonKingsCross, services may be subject to delays when passing in the surrounding area.

Major disruption between #LondonKingsCross and #Peterborough is expected until the end of the day.

You can use your ticket to travel with the following train companies at no extra cost:

Avanti between #LondonEuston, #Manchester and #Glasgow/#Edinburgh

TransPennine between #Manchester, #Leeds and #York/#Newcastle

ScotRail between #Glasgow and #Edinburgh

Northern between #Sheffield and #Doncaster

East Midlands between #LondonStPancras, #Leicester and #Sheffield.

Great Northern and Thameslink between #LondonKingsCross and #Stevenage

CrossCountry between #Leeds and #Sheffield

Due to the severity of today's disruption, tickets for travel today (28/02) will be valid for use on Sat (01/03), Sun (02/03), Mon (03/03).

If you no longer wish to travel, you can obtain a full refund on your unused ticket through your point of purchase.

A lot of quotes, but I know we are supposed to post quotes for posterity in case the Twitter posts are taken down

Looking on Traksy looks like 1A40 which had been hanging around outside Huntingdon just managed to move a bit so a decent chance trains will start moving again soon I think.

1A66 is now at Peterborough - one to keep an eye on as it’s a Grand Central class 180. 1E18 has just been turned at Peterborough.

Edit: 1A66 has now become 1Z99 - possibly to rescue a train, or to rescue passengers from the two trains at Conington?

I looks like a thunderbird is heading south from Newark and passing Grantham.

I see LNER have organised RRBs between Peterborough and Stevenage. I'm not sure if this means everyone will have to take them or if it's just a measure to be helpful for Peterborough passengers?

Decided if RRBs or Nottingham is only answer I will stay the night in Grantham, at least while hotels stay available.

Correct. Animal has then damaged pantograph, before has flying off and smashing windscreen of a GTR service. Pantograph left hanging from the OLE.
Can’t do the quote function as the thread has been locked, but @peperami97 mentioned:
Looking at the signal map, would appear 9J48 (now down as 9Z48) is the Thameslink unit involved

9J48 1525 Horsham to Peterborough - https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:W25390/2025-02-28/detailed

And then of course 1A40 as mentioned by other posters

1A40 1616 Leeds to London Kings Cross - https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C71248/2025-02-28/detailed

My train just left Grantham, although no explanation yet of what will happen. Train crew have been very good in letting us know at appropriate intervals they have basically no information but making reassuring noises etc. I was speaking to one of the trolley guys before the issue and apparently he was coming to the end of a 12 hour shift so that's going to be looking more like a 14 or 15 hour one if we get to Kings Cross in normal time from here :{. He's staying chipper tho.

On the OTT map 9J48 did not go beyond Huntingdon and appears not to have been involved.

Two down trains were stranded:

1H10 1718 Kings Cross-Hull was on the down fast at 377 signal and has now disappeared off the OTT map. This is a bimode and I'm guessing it was able to move under its own power.

1P82 1642 Kings Cross-Peterborough was on the down slow and is still on the OTT map at 379 signal with 1Z99 now adjacent.

Thanks both for letting me know.

Loving the current official advice from LNER

looks like they’ve just copied all options from the template :/

Thanks. Supposing it did, anyone got any guess on whether LNER would run the services waiting at Peterborough (like mine)?

Considering getting a hotel here and continuing journey tomorrow.
I highly doubt it, just due to crew issues regarding breaks, maximum shifts times etc.

I'm travelling tomorrow morning, would anyone predict any residual disruption tomorrow?

LNER have a train boarded at Kings Cross, formed of a class 800/1, and ready to depart for Newcastle.

Down trains seem to be starting to forming a queue at Huntingdon now, so looks like there’s an expectation that Down Fast may be reopening soon.

Last train to KGX just departed NCL. Massive credit to all who got this sorted, and the staff at NCL.
