There are news about 10 EMR 153s due to transfer to Northern, replacing 8 Class 153s, i wondered if it is a stopgap or permanent?
Also does anyone have ideas whether the 5 ScotRail Dogbox Bike and Luggage Vans are in service now? Or they are in driver training?

It could potentially be because the EMR ones are in better condition or because the lease costs are different. In particular, some of the 153s have a worse 'sag' problem than the others.

Posted elsewhere but believe this is more dud gen from Rail. The dispensation letters are because Northern are using EMR 153s for the Barton branch service, so the dispensation needs to be in Northern’s name. There are letters issued for both Angel and Porterbrook fleets as I understand it.

Given that they were needed to provide extra capacity during the peak season, there is currently no urgency for them
