Which date ranges would it be good to avoid traveling to mainland Europe in 2024?

I've had a google, but not being a sports person I've been left even more confused than when i started. Just wondering when I should plan journeys to and from Germany and beyond via Brussels next summer?
Thanks :D

The Olympics are in Paris from 26 July to 11 Aug apparently.

I'd guess that if you avoid Paris at that time period (and a week or so either side) you should be OK.

Euro 2024 is 14 June to 14 July, but I'd guess it takes place at multiple cities so will presumably not have quite the same impact as the Olympics. Might be worth finding out if any matches take place at cities you'll pass through on your chosen dates, or go after mid-July.

The cities involved in Euro 24 are Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen and Dortmund. The Ruhr, in particular, looks to be a place to avoid, with four venues in the area.

The following link details dates and venues of games for Euro 2024. I've quoted the group games but the later knock-out ties are also available if you follow the link. I would agree the Ruhr is an area to avoid if you've no interest in the football though.

So I shall endeavour to avoid Germany from the 14th June to 14th July, or to at least check venues and rest days if traveling in this period.
And France (Paris) from the 26th July to 11th Aug.

Really helpful - thank you all!

And presumably the Paralympic Games will also take place in France, a few weeks after the main games have finished.

one other thing to avoid. Metro tickets in Paris are going to double in price to €4 during the Games.

Maybe worth buying un carnet de dix before 20 July.

It's worth bearing in mind that while the Olympics & Paralympics have a full schedule of events every day for their durations, Euro24 is a cup competition so, after a hectic schedule of several matches in the group rounds (14th - 26th June), it tapers to a close on 14th July in Berlin, with the semi-finals in Munich (Tuesday 9th) & Dortmund (Wednesday 10th), so travel during that last week will be less impacted outside of the host cities.

Is most of the infrastructure from the World Cup 2006 still good to use 18 years on, for the Euros?
