Yes and no, respectively. They had a few (briefly) but never repainted any.

The whole EWS colour scheme was based on the parent company Wisconsin Central.

Transrail/EWS never owned any working 20s from what I can recall.
They operated 6 or 7 on behalf of BRT & Central Services (later Serco) but often used them on local freight trip workings around Bescot.
When those 2 were privatised, most locos were sold to DRS and ended up as 20/3.

Two where stored at Margam well into the late 90s under EWS ownership.
189 and another I think they where, among with the 45 at Toton and 87 at Crewe.

IIRC 20059 20168 were there. I do not recall seeing 20189. I stand to be corrected though!
