On an Avanti service sat at Euston waiting to leave, and it's been reported a train has failed outside Euston which is why departures are being held at the moment.

Wonder whether the "failed" train was the 0834 Avanti originating from Liverpool Lime Street (or if this late service was just caught up on its approach into Euston)?

Whatever train caused an issue, my service has now departed about 35 mins late. 2K11 seems to be the suspect as I saw it pulling back into Euston.

2D76 is showing as cancelled due to a fault on this train, 2K11 cancelled due to a fault on a train in front of this one.

Seems 2D76 has been changed to say a problem under investigation now.

The delay reason is set to that, cancel reason still says fault on this train. It was delayed for 23 minutes before being cancelled.

Does anyone know what's happening? Because there's currently no screens or announcements. Photos attached show indoor and outdoor departures screens switched off. Some of the lights are switched off too.

There was a power cut earlier today, when I arrived on 1A44 the station was exit only, with no tube trains stopping either.

Have you asked a member of station staff. Who will be better placed to answer than a forum!

I believe if you look at the first photo you can see the several hundred people between where I was able to stand and the information desk.

Station staff still will be better place to ask that writing on a forum!
Your pictures make it look quieter than a weekday. It seems very quiet. Struggling to see the several hundred people you claim to be there.
In fact your first picture makes to look quieter than most days I ever travel through Euston.

There were large numbers of people at the station. Most being held outside the concourse against the barrier gates.

We’re investigating a fault with our power supply at Euston

This is affecting some lighting & departure screens on the concourse, as well as some of our shops

Train services are still running

you obviously don't know what it is like to be "on the outside" during something like this, good luck finding someone on the front-line who a) actually knows anything useful or up-to-date and b) can cope with the deluge of questions coming at them...
A non-specialist is effectively abandoned during these events, which is obviously why people ask here.

I ended up using Traksy in order to actually manage to get a seat. Now on the rather heftily delayed Wolverhampton train currently sat at Euston.

Station staff were all using OpenTrainTimes and Traksy in order to announce services.

Various Avanti staff on the ground trying to help, but ultimately the extent of the advice was to wait on the concourse.

Very much limited by late-running southbound services creating a lack of stock for northbound movements.

You severely underestimate the power of the online world!
NWR had tweeted about 3 hours before they asked the question on here!

The information was there, it was available, the problem was known!

I think you've made your point mate - perhaps you could just leave it?

Yes 3 hours before the question was asked on here……..16:55 to be precise
If you don't wanna help please can I very strongly recommend to you that you don't reply to posts?

If you're still there you may find this useful:

It's a link to a departure board which shows what the main board should show including actual allocated platforms. Combine that with Realtime Trains and you should be able to work out what is going on.
Thanks for this, by the way. I am grateful someone made an effort to help me at least rather than having a go.
