There is another international one I know of (completely legitimate), a bit nearer to home (I mean the UK
), but as with others on this forum who know of other examples, I'm not willing to divulge it because if loads of people start to take advantage of it, it certainly will be withdrawn.
I could say the same about some rail fares, but there's no point in bringing up such a subject and making a statement to that effect unprompted. It will just annoy people (and it has!). If someone asked for a specific bit of advice and you replied along the lines of "I know one I will not divulge on the forum but will send by PM" then fair enough (and indeed I do this myself). But the way it's worded, unfortunately people will not appreciate it. I am sure you didn't intend to come across this way!
The best way to get such information, as others have said, is through forum meets or similar events - at least the imparter of knowledge will have some idea about whom he is talking to. So if you want to know more, I suggest you attend one, instead of sulking and calling people names.
Well, I agree with the first part of this paragraph. But there's no need to accuse people of "sulking", please don't do that toward another member on this forum (you can
think what you like!) - besides, I see no evidence that Ralph (or anyone else) is/was "sulking".
I admit that some of us who have met in real life do discuss things that occur off the main forum, and anyone who meets us and displays both an interest in helping others, and a knowledge of ticketing, may find themselves invited to join us, and if anyone needs a particular ticket and I am reasonably sure they're genuine, I may also PM them the advice. That's all perfectly sensible and reasonable. But we have to be careful that we don't come across as saying "I've got a secret and I'm not telling" as that just annoys people, and understandably so.
It's difficult to get the right balance, and some degree of understanding is needed when looking at it from either point of view.
