The 1938 stock is the same stock used on the Island Line isn't it?

If the 1938 stock is the Island Line stock, then 1938 stock it is then!

O, P, OP, and COP! Some R Stock was of course former Q Stock DMs.

Of the post-1938/47/49 Stock, the 1956 Stock bettered the 1959 and 1962 Stock with its extra internal wood, a sort of half-way house between the generaic 1938 Stock and the 1956 Stock. They of course also had the '38 Stock style light displays!

If I wanted to be picky I would say I always adored the converted "Sunshine Car", # 10306 with the extra-glazed doors. However I have fond memories of the '38s on the Picc going to school and then work and also on the Northen and Bakerloo. Between Acton Town and Ravenscourt Park they motored, but creaked and groaned and were almost alive. The superb leather trim on the seats and armrests gave a solid club feel. Regrettably those on the Island seem to be rusting to pieces!

really?
its been years since i was over on the island . the last time i was over there the 38's were brand new(?) and the standard stock still was much in abundance. i liked the 56's cos i feel they were the aluminium version of the steel bodied 38's. the 59/62 were the poor relation to them with mean seat cushons and loads more formica panels. its a shame that all the 56's went for scrap as they were truely the last decent tube stock! agree? i only ever saw the sunshine car once and it confused me no end cos it was so different.

The 38's on the Island are getting into quite a state, but there has been talk that they will be getting big overhauls in the near future, particularly concentrating on dealing with the corrosion (mechanically they are still very good, and have MPC figures that it's unlikely the new stuff will ever achieve).

Never tried the 38 stuff on the Island Line, so can't comment there.

In terms of Tube stock I have done, I do like the C stock and whatever they use on the Bakerloo.

59ts - the only "proper" trains I can remember!

For the modern stock, it has to be 73ts (they've done a great job in making them look modern despite their age) and A stock.

Yes it has to be the 38 stock. I have very found memories of them. Being northern Line based, they were a far cry from the earlier standard stock that were both noisy and suffocating inside. In my early day living in Acton, I dreaded having to ride in these to Leicester Sq to change. The old Northern & City (Moorgate to Finsbury Pk) back in the 50 was the last to use this antiquated stock.
No Give me the 38 stock anytime.
