FIP travel from Madrid to Seville

I'm planning to travel from Madrid to Seville next week, I've applied for my FIP coupon for travel on RENFE but am unsure of next steps.

I know reservations are mandatory for long distance trains in Spain so does anyone know if it's just as simple as popping into the ticket office in Madrid a day or two before to make the seat reservation for a service?

Any ideas on roughly how much I'll be looking at for the actual seat reservation?
