Hi,

My local radio news has just reported that 100's of rail commuters had to be evacuated from Liverpool Street Station last night due to a fire in a Burger King outlet.

Has anyone got any more details?

No great loss, the food's crap, expensive & it makes anywhere that has one stink.
I don't eat it because it makes me ill + cost. Yuk.

If its anything like the one in Waverley where there are pigeons wandering about inside doing shoites everywhere then its nae great loss. Dirty floors tables, rude staff and vermin wandering about. YUK! Oh and not to mention shoite food tae

I quite like the Waverley Burger King, it's fairly quick and tastes ok. Plus, it's dirt (pardon the pun) cheap!

Still prefer Boots' meal deals, I now have an advantage card because I buy them so often.

the report says about the fire starting in the ventilation, having worked in a similar industry, the insurance requires the ventilation to be cleaned through every 6 months, as the grease and stuff gets extracted up through these ventilation systems, which is obviously quite flammable, being basically the fumes off the cooking oil. having spoke to the ventilation cleaners many times they say that it takes about 2-3 years to build enough up to start a fire, so would be interested in whether such a large company had not been following the minimum requiremnets for insurance cover,

Wasn't it a Burger King that caught fire at Heathrow a few years ago? I also see there was a fire at Heathrow this afternoon as well Link . The smoke was visible from the WCML at Kenton, I noticed it around two o'clock and wondered where it was emanating from!

At least it wasn't the pub that I originally thought it was!

There was a fire last year in the Burger King at Victoria station and I think that the grease not being cleaned out was a factor in it. It gutted the outlet and melted some of the signage behind from what I recall!

It was an extended fire in an electrical cable. F/brigade were there until after the morning peak, albeit both sides of the station open from about 0500, as a precaution.
