Looking for something to do with a long weekend so thought of doing First Class dining on the Northern Lights, Monday, from Aberdeen to Kings Cross then GWR Pullman to Plymouth overnight then, Tuesday, to Cardiff for the WAG.

Is there anyway of upgrading a Standard Priv Single to experience First Class Dining on the Northern Lights?

Which is quieter (more chance of a seat in the Pullman Carriage) for Pullman dining the 1803 or 1903 Paddington to Plymouth?

Thanks in advance

Same rules apply as for standard ticket holder or should be. Space if available can be used paying for the food.

You won't be able to sit in first on East Coast without upgrading the whole ticket, I've no idea how much that would be on a PRIV but probably not worth it because the meal isn't that good.

I believe the meals on EC are a part of the first class fare, so you don't get them unless you have a valid first class ticket.

Yes. Excess: upgrade to 1st

The FOS is £230, you've either paid £37.20 or £39.40 so the excess is approximately £190.

Whether the basic "mid morning" offer, followed by the "all day" offer after Edinburgh counts as 'dining' is a rather debatable point!

Hmm put like that it's definitely not worth it. Time to replan...£91.10 First Class Advance may just be worth it.

Starting to think going abroad will be cheaper.
