Yes, as predicted earlier in the thread. Enabled by the running time reduction via the Promenade.

The evening service is also increased from hourly to every 45 min.

So, The Lizard becomes an obsolete brand, joining Daytripper and U lines.

A lot of repaints needed!
A real shame that, I felt the Lizard was one of the smarter of the new brands we saw introduced to the fleet over the last few years! It also made a lot more sense than some of the others - eg Coast to Coast but still operating as the U1 route or the somewhat stillborn and questionable UniQue.

It'll also mean vehicles such as 37802, only fairly recently painted into Lizard base colours, will have to be repainted again.

I doubt Lizard buses will be repainted, presumably they’ll still on paper be allocated to Heston, but just used on the U4 and schools

Shame they couldn’t make it work, even when all the routes had school gaps so technically the PVR was no different to not running them (besides having open top buses also in the mix)

This is one of those areas where it’s a shame that now the TfC network is well established and both First and Go Ahead are working together rather than in competition, the contracts couldn’t be slightly amended so that Go Ahead withdrew the 34 south of Helston and First took it on

If it doesn’t pay without subsidy then it’s for Go Ahead to continue with

Redruth - The Lizard is a long-established link. Breaking that link would be a clear passenger dis-benefit.

Indeed. The pioneering Helston to the Lizard bus service started by the GWR catered for passengers transferring from the railway at Helston, which was conceived as an intermediate stop on the branch line before its eventual extension to the Lizard. In the event, extension never came (wisely, in my view) and Helston became the terminus. After 1962 and the closure of the branch line Redruth was seen as a better place than Camborne or Truro to direct potential train passengers from both Helston and the Lizard to,aided by the former's much better proximity to its town centre.

It’s probably therefore one area where the overall TFC red livery is a negative, as this link has had route branding at various times in the past - wasn’t it the “Helston Branch Line” to advertise that key link, now it’s just mixed in with all the other red E200MMCs kicking around the area

That was way back when the original Truronian operated it

Recent Photos show 37792, 37796, 37798 have had recently their Lands End vinyls added, Joining 37795 & 37801 that had theirs's added last year. 37789, 37791, 37793, 37797 are the only ones left without vinyls now.
37791 can come off that list, as its now been done.

I wondered if there might be more 'high summer' changes / additions to come from First Kernow, perhaps only if they decide nearer the time that resources permit. U4 shorts to Praa Sands, perhaps more on the Sunseeker - I remain very disappointed that this does not got further up the coast than Gwithian. I don't think any changes show for First Kernow beyond those at the end of May, while Go Cornwall include summer holiday variations.

Enviro 400 33717 has entered service at Buses of Somerset still in Sheffield blue with names removed. It was originally painted in this livery after an RTC.

There was a white decker going around Truro yesterday advertising Starling bank in Southampton and an Optare on the T1.

The decker will be 37338 WX57HKW - another ex Bristol B9TL transferred up from Solent.

At least it's not as controversial as one of the ex City Reds Streetdecks now running around in Portsmouth with "Hello Southampton" on the side.

Seems to be more Geminis on the Tinner routes now and a couple of Optares too. One being a Mousehole Solo.

Will the B7s be getting replaced anytime soon in Cornwall given the B7s/ELCs have almost all been pretty much seen off (final 2 are due to be seen off by E400s)

Yeah my apologies
Some of the B7TLs are indeed rather long in the tooth. Marc Huws mentioned on this thread some time back that cascaded B9TLs would start replacing them as and when they became available.

Purely speculation here but it would be logical for some B9TLs to be released from West of England shortly to replace more of the Kernow B7TLs.

From next Sunday their Park & Ride services are passing to Stagecoach so the current allocation of 11 E400MMCs will be freed up for use elsewhere, most likely Bath due to them being dual-door like their own batch used on the Unibus services.

There are only 6 08 plated B9s to replace in Bath though, would any 12 plated B9s also be freed up?
