Cheers Ron - was in your manor today; 32544 was also operating a 174 when I saw it at Stratton. At the risk of incurring the might of the FSW rebuttal unit from their Camborne lair, I have to say the Yeovil fleet didn't look great.

Seen mention made of the 7XP being operated by a pair of Geminis yesterday, with 33488 not having operated it for 10 days (IF bustimes is to be believed) so wonder if they're being repainted out of that livery already?
One of the Severn Express E400MMCs was out yesterday with indeed 2 Geminis. 33488 is probably the one which went bang a couple of weeks ago and has been off the road ever since. Geminis and Scanias have generally deputised ever since. The third E400MMC yesterday was probably off for maintenance, there is no word of them going off to be repainted yet. I would imagine after 31/08/2019, they will simply be debranded and ran in the base livery in the interim.

Well there's two Geminis out this morning (37346 and 37621), along with 33490.

On the South Yorkshire Bus Forum it states 30578 31145 31786 32108 32218/19/20 32308/10/12 are on live reserve at Olive Grove depot. One response to my enquiry said all these would probably return to service in September for schools. The second response was they were believed to be 'off down south somewhere that needs deckers.'
If the second opinion is correct I wonder if that includes FWE?

I wasn't aware one was VOR. 33490 appears to be the only one running but as you say, another may be off for some more mundane. I expected them to run around a la 32688 but this is the time of year to repaint when the PVR is lower

Some more changes!

A1 - Pick Up/Set Down between Bus Station and Brookgate.
U1 (Bristol) - Bit more frequent in evening peak and a few stops on the City Centre extension have changed.
U2 (Bath) - Reduced from every 20 mins to every 30 mins.

Is the Bath U2 on a 30 min frequency off peak but more frequent at peak times?

32544 replaced 34543 a couple of days ago.
At least FSW don`t have to worry about vehicle depreciation values with the Yeovil fleet. :p

The Yeovil fleet is obviously mature and that’s perhaps understandable given it’s always struggled for new fleet (except for some Transits and a couple of Merck’s?) but the presentation was what caught my eye.

I was driving rather than a passenger but it looked rather neglected. Is the fleet now 42942/6/9-54 and 43906 and 50466/7, 53055-7/151/205/9/402-4?

Hi Wazoo,
Just 42924 I think to round up our allocation.
Cheers, Mike

Correct 53404 taking a back seat as priority obviously given to keeping the rest of the vehicles serviceable.
Its believed but not confirmed Solo 50467 is now withdrawn.
Dart 42950 has not worked since February, but is rumoured to be getting a new engine.

A few photos from Friday on Flickr confirm that ALX Volvos 31144, 31146 & Plaxton B7TL 32225 are heading for Bristol. As they carry Purple fronts, I assume intended for the 3/4

32225 is currently at Potteries. It could possibly have broken down on the way though.

It is indeed! And it looks lovely!

Have they done the internal branding as per the other Mendip fleet? Always thought that was very well done. When I've travelled on the 91/92 e400s, I thought they were really quite dull internally.

I did see 50466 working and thought that's quite a mature machine nowadays. Wonder what the plans are for Yeovil, and if any of the Darts (which must have a few more years in them) will get painted? Yeovil has always had some of the oldest fleet (throughout time) so it's not surprising to see the fleet profile as it is, but cosmetically, they didn't look the best.

Takes me back to the old Badgerline days when you'd see some space age Lynx on the 376 arriving in Yeovil, rubbing shoulders with the raft of Transits and aged Nationals and VRs still in NBC green. Mind you, Yeovil as a town has clearly declined since those days too.

Interesting to hear the A1 is going to be pick/up set down between Bristol Bus Station and Brookgate. Makes complete sense. If the bus passes the stops why not let passengers get on and off there.

Time and to try shift people onto the M2.

The M2 doesn't serve Brookgate, although the U2 does.

I suspect that it is to stop local traffic on the A1 (so blocking up lucrative capacity) and so drive passengers onto the M2 between town and Long Ashton. I doubt there's many passengers at Brookgate (though I did catch the U2 from there to Lower Langford a few months back).

I notice the U2 stops at Airport Tavern. Could you potentially catch this instead of the A1 which obviously is a premium fare? Surely the U2 is a standard Inner/Outer Zone ticket?

Or, if it's the airport you want, you could catch the A2 to the Airport terminal (also charges normal fares).
I remember the old A2, (or one of many incarnations of it), which carried on to Nailsea. It fell under the WoE fare structure, so if you knew your stuff, could use it to get to Nailsea, then catch an X8 on to Bristol, and onwards to final destination, (in my case Bath at the time) all at standard fare. Of course whether that's terribly appealing after a 15 hour flight, simply to save a few quid I suspect not!
