I’ve noticed that every night there is either a Flixbus green VanHool or white Ridley’s levante left parked overnight near Nottingham on a side road.

Had an advert on facebook saying they are launching airport services, clicked the ad but page didn't load. Perhaps existing Heathrow connections.

Glasgow to Aberdeen now available for booking, with departures from August 8th. Route is Glasgow - Stirling - Perth - Dundee - Aberdeen.

Three departures per day Northbound at 07:05, 11:30 and 16:00

Southbound departures at 07:05, 11:30, 16:00 and 20:25.

I wonder how this will do, given the Scottish routes are now busy with Ember and Citylink services.

Odd departure point in Aberdeen, but it is probably the only location in Aberdeen city centre that is unlikely to cause disruption, as the old 20 stop is only used for diversions plus some tour coaches.

…and the main competitor owns the bus station!

The 0705 from Aberdeen is only Fri to Mon.

I'm guessing they expect to regularly duplicate one of the trips in the other direction.

It starts from Dundee on TuWTh
There is also an evening Glw > Dundee trip every day, and a very early Dundee > Aberdeen trip on FSaSuM.
Therefore one coach based at Glasgow (Inchinnan) and the other at Dundee.

Correct to assume it will be McGills operated then?

I wonder if Flixbus will launch London services from the likes of Aberdeen and Dundee, since the Megabus M11 no longer runs a direct service north of Glasgow, nor do National Express go further than Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Fares seem to be cheaper compared to Citylink, and you can reserve the seat next to you which is cool and would make me feel a lot more comfortable travelling. Doesn't look like Concession Cards work however.

I have used the reserve the seat next to you on Flixbus. Its worth it on overnights, the prices varies from a few quid to the price of the ticket. I have noticed very few passengers make use of the feature though.

I guess they could extend the London to Glasgow overnight up to Aberdeen. Not sure if many people went the whole way. -

Something I'm curious about with the London to Europe services. The itinery on the Flixbus website currently suggests that all journeys cross the channel using the ferry however someone recently uploaded a Youtube video of their journey from London to Paris which showed them going via the tunnel.

Is it common for international services to be marked as using the ferry and then using the tunnel instead? Or vice versa? Or is it maybe a case of Flixbus showing the timings on the basis of the journey involving a ferry crossing to cover themselves in case they need to switch from using the tunnel?
Currently no services use the tunnel due to cost. Most use P&O crossing

I used the reserve both seats feature on an overnight from Newcastle to London. I can vouch for its usefulness, almost as much as I can vouch for the usefulness of the McDonalds in Victoria Place for the race on the morning I arrived

Nowhere near enough to a Pacer :(
I don't think reserve both seats it's available on the app. I downloaded it for the sake of trying to book a journey that I've in ultimately didn't reserve as I found a different way of doing it and nowhere within the app where are the opportunity to reserve both seats.

Yes, I noticed that a while back. I could only find that facility on the website.

Yes , its great on the overnights, provided you don't have anyone trying to nab the seat next to you.

Do they mark the reserved seats or is it left to the passenger to claim their seat and defend the empty paid for one?

Flixbus reserve every seat they sell and I can’t say I’ve ever been on one where they’ve been marked. In fact it’s rare enough to have a coach that has the seats numbered in the same way that flixbus sell/reserve them

They aren't marked but they are numbered. I thought everyone was allocated a seat but it seems people buy a ticket and and find an unallocated seat.

I travelled from Exeter last night and whilst my full e ticket had the seat number on it the app one didn't and so I didn't realise we were all assigned seats till Heathrow.
Also what's with the 21 plate on the Exeter run with the black and red seats as if has absolutely no leg room. Worse than an E200 bus. Bloody uncomfortable on an overnight run. We were early at least.

Yes the coaches with red and black seats are awful and operators keep buying more. And if you read the website the coaches should have Extra legroom

Everyone is allocated a seat. If there are no unreserved seats left a ticket can’t be bought. If there are spare spaces though there’s nothing stopping you moving seats
