I am flying on Tuesday from Birmingham to Newquay. Am i right to assume that i need to allow up to 2 hours for check in?

My flight leave sat 11:00 so my plan is to arrive at the airport about 09:00. Is this sensible or vastly early? I don't often take an internal flight as you may be able to tell!

Never taken me more than 10 minutes to clear security at BHX. Hand baggage only, you could leave it to an hour before flight time. You would have missed the early morning rush at the time you are flying.

Check-in for domestic flights close 30 minutes before the flight, 45 is recommended. http://flybe.custhelp.com/app/answe...sion/L3RpbWUvMTQzODMzNjQ4Ni9zaWQvbG5BVzZLc20=

I've had queues taking 30 minutes to get through security at Birmingham, although that was a few years ago, and at a busy time. If you are flying with hand baggage only and check-in online beforehand, an hour is plenty at that time of day on a Saturday.

Flybe are a little 'friendlier' than Ryanair, especially with regard to ID when using domestic flights. I was accepted with my work ID badge for flights between Birmingham & Glasgow, although I had my photo driving licence with me anyway just in case.

Yeah, it would be worth getting an earlier train just in case. The minimum is 30 minutes, and in my experience it's generally achievable. But I'd never leave that little time - there's so much that can go wrong. Train delay/cancellation. Check-in queue. Security queue. People in security trying to understand the instructions. The duty-free gauntlet. You'll know yourself.

When I was checking travel insurance policies for covering connections, they generally specify that you only need leave "sufficient" time. However, they won't be more specific, so I suspect they'll go by the airlines' recommended times (which for flyBe would be the two hours). It's not too much time to fill either - allowing for check-in, security, and boarding starting 20 mins before scheduled departure, it probably leaves you with only about an hour to kill for a cup of coffee once you're through.

Enjoy your flight!
