Oh right,i'm in York. Are you already in the rail industry? Sounds like you did as much as you could mate . good luck to you too !

I used to live in Huntington with my folks. My dad works at Freightliner maintenance in York.

I don't work on the railway as such, but I am volunteer on two mainline steam locomotives, and had an interest in the railways since I was a very young las (my dads fault :)).

darryl

Hi mate, no not yet, I'm still waiting for a medical been over 10 weeks since my interview, what stage are you at?

Just over 8 weeks since interview - was told not to contact the office for 9 weeks as I probably wouldn't hear within that time so was just wondering where other candidates were at.

I had my interview on 24th Sept and Laura said I would find out this week, so fingers crossed :D

Looks like crunch week for January although a couple of candidates are due interviews this week according to earlier posts. Good luck to all - I'm sure everyone's done their best and we'll find out soon.

Remember theres an intake in March too - wondering if they will organise all in one fell swoop? Everytime I have a missed call on my phone I curse! Waiting is interminable!

I wouldn't think anybody will receive any news this week as the last of the interviews are being conducted until the end of this week. I would presume that people will start to find out pass and fails in droves over the next few weeks starting from next week. Good luck everybody.

Anyone thought about ringing up HR? Who else is awaiting a medical?

I had my medical nearly 12 weeks ago and am just waiting to hear now. I know they are very busy but hopefully the interviews are coming to an end so fingers crossed we will hear something soon. Patience is the key. Good luck everyone.

Wow that's a long time to wait, I think it takes two minutes to drop an email saying there busy but you are or are not successful then give you details at a later date when they've sorted things, I have a lot to sort out I have leases on units and a business to sell pending if I'm successful, trying to be patient

Yeah it seems like forever. Can't see them giving me a medical and not offering me a position but until I hear something everything is up in the air. Think a lot of people are in the same boat. I got to give two months notice and organise relocating if necessary. Fingers crossed we hear something soon.

Yeah the waiting is hard, I can't believe that all this started in may and I feel I'm still no closer to a position, just really hope I get a medical and a place, good luck to you and keep us updated

Hi. I gave Crewe and Rugby as my preferred option. Passed my medical mid July but am now waiting to see if I get offered either of these. I know they are really busy so I'm just hoping to hear something soon. What about you?

I had my interview on 24th Sept, and i know laura said i would hear this week. my nerves are getting the better of me as i jump and get nervous as soon as my phone rings! :D

I said I would like Ferrybridge/York/Leeds/Doncaster/Immingham/Rotherham - basically anywhere within the hour of where I live.

Hi Darryl - I think I spoke to you at the first stage in Crewe, I was the bloke who used to live in Sherburn!
Had my interview on weds - went ok i think, hard to tell. When I was asked which 2 locations I would prefer, my answer was Immingham or Earles Sidings (Hope). Kevin did mention Dagenham later on - not sure if this was a random 'relocation/flexibility' type question though.

Hi Steve

yes it was me you were speaking to (and sat near during the exams). Glad to hear you have got through to the final interview too.

Was your interview last weds (1st oct) or yesterday (8th)?

He never asked me which two locations I would prefer, just where would I prefer to work.

He mentioned relocating and I said I would relocate. This would depend on cost as there is no way I could afford to move to London, or even most of the places down south.

darryl

I called today - could be up to two to three weeks more until we hear.

Really? You ring Laura? What did she say? That's a long time to make people wait isn't it, I've been waiting nearly 12 weeks.
Do you think we're all just in a talent pool?

Yes I spoke to Laura and she just said they were still working on it and it could take another two to three weeks. Everyone was told the next round of trainees starts on the 6th January so I don't think they're just filling a talent pool - since I started trying to become a driver the one thing I have found is that all the companies operate on this kind of timescale so this is no surprise.

Hi pal. Are you still awaiting a medical. Also is there anyone else who has to give two months notice? If so that means we need to know within the next two weeks. I'm just wondering if the people who have already passed their medicals will start in January and the other candidates who are awaiting a medical start in March.
