Evening all,

A thread for all those in the 2023 talent pool for Freightliner.

I thought this might be a good place to put updates/ depots/ status' & advice for others. As and when we receive updates.

I'm waiting for Eastleigh Depot

So I’m also waiting for Crewe, I asked about planned course dates and was told Crewe was planned to be early 2023. Which is positive.

But I’ve also been told some people have had phone calls offering Shunt Driver jobs.

Have any one received such a call?

Hi can you confirm where the advert is for the talent pool? I’ve checked website but couldn’t see it anywhere. Thanks

Yes I applied in October 2021s recruitment, and was placed into the 2023 talent pool after passing all stages in May.

Glad people are hearing, congratulations! I’ve been told cohort 1 for February next year, still have medical/dbs/references to go before then but they said they’ll be in touch to arrange all that! I’m applying for tilbury depot!

Good news, we may end up being colleagues after all!
Hey mate!

I'm afraid not, I have just removed my application from the process as I have been successful in being offered my other dream job as a Firefighter!

Start my firefighter training course tomorrow

Best of luck to all those who are going through the process.

Thanks for all your thoughts, however, I'd rather find things out for myself as we are all different!

As mentioned previously, best of luck to all those in the Talent pool

Mate don’t be put off. The world needs people to be public servants.

I’ve been one for nearly 20 years. But my time as a cop is coming to an end when I join FL in Feb.

Would I have become a train driver in my 20’s if I had my time again. I don’t know. I had some great years and I suspect you will too. My Police station is in a fire station and I spend loads of time with the water wasters in the gym and mess.

Money is not everything… good luck to you.

Just had conditional offer for starting in April.
Congratulations mate. Is that the 17th April course then.

Recruitment were in work over the weekend, I was surprised to get a reply on a Sunday. Alina said she was busy.

I don’t know, I was supposed to give 3 months notice in my current job. But FL can’t get all the checks done in time for me to give 3 months notice for the 13th Feb course. So they asked me if I wanted to delay my start until 17th April. My boss fortunately said he won’t hold me to 3 months and as long as I tell him as soon as I know, he’ll support me. So I’m still (as long as I pass my medical) starting in Feb.

That’s the only reason I know there’s a course on 17th April.

I’m hoping for Doncaster but expecting Ipswich
