Following on from this thread (https://www.railforums.co.uk/thread...down-station-waml-class-720-class-745.249520/) without derailing it.
How do you sort out extra capacity on the West Anglia main line (WAML?) Obviously there's not room for a 4 track mainline. ETCMS is a while away and still has the same constraints of physical space.
How easy and beneficial would things like level crossing closures be? There's a lot of them on the WAML
Another solution could be to run Cambridge services via the Great Eastern Main Line (GEML) but this would require electrification works and capacity upgrades on the GEML or the use of extra 755s as well as potentially upsetting WAML intermediate station users.
Ultimately demand is growing along the WAML and GEML but how do you think capacity should be upgraded?
Should we be considering a brand new railway if so where would it go?
