Future for 221142 and 221143

After the Grand Central withdraw the two of Class 221 Super Voyager units for the short term of 12 years, the Class 221142 and 221143 could either be stored away, be transferred to Grand Union in 2025 or join the CrossCountry Trains, after the 12 units are transferred.

Or maybe the 2 carriages of 60886 from 221136 and 60890 from 221140 which are used by 221142 and 221143 to be formed as 5 carriages could be transferred to CrossCountry, so the two units 221136 and 221140 will become 5 carriages again.

And 221144 will regain it's own carriages 60994 and 60794, while 221142 and 221143 will become 4 carriages again and being stored away at Central Rivers, Barton-under-Needwood depot.

Is this your prediction ?

Mine is that Alstom will have eight of the ex Avanti 221s and XC will have the remaining twelve. Whether 142 and 143 go to Xc or Alstom I wouldn't like to predict, but AFAIK the pair are handed back at the end of their lease. AIUI they were taken on to get some breathing space for the backlog of class 180 maintenance - which I believe has now been achieved.

You may be correct about the reformation of the class 221 cars but I personally doubt it given the length of time they have operated in the AWC configurations. . However with the voyager fleet heading for it's half life overhaul, who is to say what may happen.

Is there a source for this?

What does this actually mean?
Looking at the Grand Central 221 thread it was suggested that they are only going to have them for around 12 months and I think that's where this question has come from.

I could be wrong though

I’ve read the entirety of the original post several times and am still non-the-wiser.
I think the original poster's view is that the 221 fleet would be better if the original carriage formations were restored.
